Despite wushu’s being a demonstrational event in 2008 Beijing Olympics it is still our pride that the Filipino athletes were marked as the one of the best in the said event as they garnered the ever coveted gold medal. The four-member Philippine wushu squad is lead by the reigning world champion Willy Wang, who is seeing action in nanquian or forms and picked as one of the fancied entries in his event.

The three others Benjie Rivera, Mary Jane Estimar and Marian Mariano competed in sanshou or combat events of the sport. These top-shelf wushu artists have been training in different parts of China since February, according to their coach, former world champion Lester Pimentel.

Gosh, I’d really love to try wushu…haaaayz…But I dont think I am graceful enough to do so since I have learned that doing wushu needs some gracefulness within you…Argh!…But maybe that too can be learned…hehehe..I just hope that I’d be given the chance to do so…weeeee….
